Fall Move-In Guide
Before You Arrive:
- Be sure you have access to your Shepherd email & have checked messages from Residence Life.
- Still packing? Check out our What to Pack guide. Only Potomac Place has an elevator, so please pack thoughtfully in containers that are easier to move.
- Download 2 apps to your phone:
- HID Mobile Access —used for building access or Boteler Service Center access for WestWoods residents. New residents: an activation code will be sent to your email the day prior to your scheduled arrival.
- Corq—used to check-in to the residence hall with the staff. It is also a great way to learn what is happening around campus throughout the year.
- Ensure you have your Rambler ID card, as you will need it to check-in. If you don’t have one, visit the Wellness Center or the Game Zone in the Student Center to pick up or replace it before check-in.
When To Arrive:
Returning Students: |
You may sign up for a check-in time block on the Good Living Portal. For returning students, move-in occurs Friday, August 21, through Sunday, August 23, during designated hours only. Move-ins on Thursday, August 21 will be for new students. |
New Students: |
No need to sign up for a check-in time if you are arriving on Thursday, August 20. Simply arrive during the time frame identified below according to your room location. The first number of your room assignment indicates the floor you will live on; for example, room 214 is located on the second floor. |

Move-In Instructions:
- Keep your Rambler (Student ID) in an easy to find carry
- Make sure you have downloaded the HID and CORQ apps to your phone
- During your move-in time block, arrive at your residence hall and park in the nearby unloading zone. This time block is your general arrival time – once everything is unloaded, please take your time to get unpacked and settled in.
- With your Rambler, go to the check-in station for your residence hall (follow signs)
- Speak with a residence life staff member, who will check you in and update your Rambler
- Unload your vehicle and move all cars to H-Lot for extended parking.
- Move your belongings into your room and unpack – welcome home!
