What are my Shepherd ID, Username and Password? How and where do I use them?
- Your Shepherd ID is your student ID number: the nine digit number printed on the back of your Rambler card.
- Your Username and Password are accessible in My Shepherd. Your Username and Password are used to log into My Shepherd, campus lab computers, your email account, Brightspace and all other computer resources.

If I give you my Shepherd ID and/or Username, can you give me my password?
Be very careful about giving anyone your Shepherd ID. Only give it out to a known Shepherd employee, and only if they need it to assist you. Do not send it in an email or text.
Only you can change your password. Here are the steps if you are a student:
- Go to the Shepherd web page and click the My Shepherd link at the top.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the Reset Student Password box.
- Go through the prompts on the screen filling out the boxes.
- When done, log out of My Shepherd.
- Wait at least five minutes before trying to use the new password.
If you are an employee, you will need to follow the first step above, then scroll to the bottom of the screen and click on the Reset Employee Password box on the right side of the screen. This will take you to the RAIL system. In the future, the password reset will be changed to the student process.
How do I find out my Shepherd University email address and change my computer/email/Learning Management System password?
- New students will receive an email to the personal email address they entered during their orientation session.
- The email has all of the information you need. If you do not see it, check your SPAM email box.
- Follow the directions in the email.
- Returning students will need to follow the instructions above.
How do I log into my Shepherd Web Mail?
- Type http://online.microsoftonline.com/ in the address bar of your web browser, or go to the Shepherd home page navigation bar and click either on Email in the Quick Links at the top.
- Enter your Username followed by @rams.shepherd.edu and click on the Next button.
- On the next screen, you will be prompted to enter your Password. Enter your password and click on Sign In.
** Note: Your password is your Brightspace/computer account password set in My Shepherd. Instructions for changing your password are in the Important information about your email account / password section below. ** - You will be asked on the next screen whether you want to Stay signed in? Choose the option you prefer.
