Shepherd’s Residence Halls
Residence Halls‌‍‍ ‌ ‌‌What to Pack List

Potomac Place

Shepherd’s newest residence hall, opened in Fall 2017, is available for first-year & upperclass residents! Potomac Place is a suite-style living where no more than 2 people will share a bathroom with double and single occupancy options available.

Shaw Hall &
Thacher Hall

Traditional Halls are at the center of campus. If you like to be in a central location of campus where you just as close to the Wellness Center as you are from classes, then this is the place for you. Traditional Halls offer more options for those interested in our single-room experience. Restrooms are shared by roughly nine others living in a wing; each restroom has private stalls and showers with changing area.

Honors Suites

As space permits, first-year Honors students may be eligible to live in Martin Hall, a suite-style building among the West Woods suites. On your Housing Application, be sure to include Honors in your living preferences when prompted. To learn more about this opportunity, please contact our office.

West Woods &
Miller Hall

West Woods and Miller are suite-style with private bathrooms and a large living room. The suites take on an “apartment-style” living quality without the kitchen. Available to upperclass, transfer, & readmit residents.

Dunlop & Printz Apartments

Dunlop and Printz Hall are apartment-style living with a private bathroom, living room, and kitchen. The apartments provide a great opportunity for independent living. Available to upperclass, transfer, & readmit residents.

Residency Requirement

Residency Requirement Info
Shepherd University believes living on-campus is a crucial piece of a student’s educational experience. Thus, all Shepherd students are required to live on-campus while enrolled unless they qualify for exception.
Those considering living off-campus must (1) meet qualifying exception criteria and (2) complete the Off-Campus Request form on the Good Living Portal. We urge you to not sign a lease or other commitments until you have been notified of off-campus approval or you will have two binding obligations. More information and residency exceptions can be found here:

Meal Plans

Meal Plan Options & Costs
Living on campus offers convenient access to Shepherd’s dining options. All residents, except those living in Dunlop or Printz Apartments, must select a meal plan when signing up for housing.
Options and costs for 2023-2024 are linked above. Information and rates for 2024-2025 coming soon!

Housing Accommodations

Accessibility Office
The Accessibility Office assists students needs through reasonable and documented accommodations. Request, approval, and management of any housing accommodations is managed through Accessibility. This includes single room, emotional support and service animals, dietary, and/or access accommodations.
