International Coffee Hour
The International Coffee Hour is offered every other Friday in the international lounge, Gardiner Hall 120, and is an excellent opportunity to meet students worldwide and explore the world through coffee, culture, and conversation. Community Friendship Program
Join our Community Friendship Program – community friends are needed at Shepherd University!
A community friend/family can take many forms – it can be a single individual or a family of fifteen! A community friend/family is an individual or family in the local Shepherdstown or Martinsburg area that serves as a friend to an international student studying at Shepherd. Students studying here from abroad often find themselves overwhelmed culturally and socially. A community friend/family helps ease the homesickness and anxiety international students face.
A Community Friend is:
- A local friend
- Someone with knowledge of the area
- Warm and welcoming
- A source of information
- An introduction to the region’s culture
- A help in adjusting to the community
- A source of fun and relaxation
Note: A community friend is NOT someone to house and/or feed a student.
If you would be interested in welcoming one of Shepherd University’s international students into your family, please contact Ms. Emily Liu, at email@example.com.
We are always looking for international students to participate in the Community Friendship Program!
