Continuing Education FAQs
What types of Continuing Education does Shepherd University offer?
Shepherd University offers three types of Continuing Education:
- Professional Graduate Education–EDPD courses for teacher recertification
- Continuing Education Units (CEUs)–professional graduate studies in areas other than education
- Continuing Education–Content only; open to the general public.
Do these classes have major assignments, projects, or homework?
Yes, in the case of EDPD or CEU classes. EDPD classes are graduate-level courses not associated with a degree program and usually have assigned readings or a paper included with the class grade. The same is true for CEU classes. CE courses are for content only and do not have assignments due, only contact hours for the course.
Are these courses affordable?
Each unit of Continuing Education courses is affordably priced at $59 for every Continuing Education unit, representing 10 contact hours. EDPD courses, which do earn credit are typically 3-credit courses priced at $59 a credit or $177 overall.
Do I qualify for Federal Financial aid with Continuing Education courses?
Only degree-seeking students qualify for Federal Financial Aid; however, classes are economically priced, and, in many cases your employer or school district in the case of teachers may pay for these classes or offer other financial assistance.
