Transfer students are those who’ve attended a college/university following high school graduation and are looking to continue their studies at Shepherd University. Our admission requirements and the application process for transfer students are outlined below.

Admission Requirements
When reviewing transfer applications, we look for the following characteristics:
- 24 earned college credits (if lower than 24 credits, an official high school transcript is required).
- 2.0 cumulative college GPA from all previously attempted coursework.
- Select disciplines at Shepherd (i.e., education, nursing, and social work) have additional admission requirements.
- Good-standing status and eligibility to return to all former institutions.
In addition to reviewing academic performance, we evaluate personal character and achievements. As a small, tight-knit campus community, we’re seeking well-rounded students who will positively contribute to Shepherd’s campus both inside and outside the classroom.
Application Process
- Choose a program of study. All transfer students with 30+ credits must have a declared major. (The exploratory program is not available to transfer students.)
- Complete our online application and submit the $45 application fee or an approved waiver code.
- Submit official transcripts from all previously attended institutions, and if required, a high school transcript and SAT/ACT scores.
- Submit a personal statement and/or letters of recommendation (optional). Personal statements can be typed directly into the application, emailed, or mailed.
