2025 Fall Move-In Guide

Before You Arrive:

  1. Be sure you have access to your Shepherd email & have checked messages from Residence Life.
  2. Still packing? Check out our What to Pack guide.  Only Potomac Place has an elevator, so please pack thoughtfully in containers that are easier to move.
  3. Download 2 apps to your phone:
    1. HID Mobile Access —used to have building access or Boteler Service Center access for WestWoods residents. The day before your arrival, an activation code will be sent to your email.
    2. Corq—used to check-in to the residence hall with the staff. It is also a great way to learn what is happening around campus throughout the year.
  4. Ensure you have your Rambler ID card, as you will need it to check-in. If you don’t have one, visit the Wellness Center to pick up or replace it before check-in.

When To Arrive:

Returning Students: 

You can sign up for a check-in time block on the Good Living Portal. For returning students, move-in occurs Friday, August 22, through Sunday, August 24, during designated hours.  New students are prioritized for Thursday, August 21.

New Students:

No need to sign up for a check-in time if you are arriving on Thursday, August 21.  Simply arrive during the time frame identified below according to your room location.  The first number of your room assignment indicates the floor you will live on; for example, room 214 is located on the second floor.

Early Arrival Students:

  • Football student athletes: Arrive on Monday, August 4. Check-in with the team at the Butcher Center first, and then move into a temporary space in Thacher for team camp. The team will move to their permanent fall placements on Monday, August 11.
  • Resident Assistants: Check-in at Potomac Place beginning on Saturday, August 9 at 10am.
  • A-Team leaders:  Check-in at Miller Hall on Sunday, August 10: 10am – noon.
  • Band members:  Check-in at your residence hall on Saturday, August 16:  9am – 11am.
  • Volleyball, women’s soccer, and men’s soccer student athletes: Check-in at your residence hall on Saturday, August 16: 10am – noon (may also need to check-in at the Butcher Center; please confirm with your coach).
  • L.E.A.D.S. participants: Check-in at your residence hall on Saturday, August 16: 10am – noon.
  • Program Board: check in at Miller Hall on Tuesday, August 19: 10am – noon.

New Student Arrival Times on Thursday, August 21:

For Potomac Place new student residents only:

Residents who live on: Check-in during this time:
5th floor 9:30am – 10:45am
4th floor 10:45am – noon
3rd floor noon – 1:15pm
2nd floor 1:15pm – 2:00pm

For new student residents at all other halls:

Residents who live on Check-in during this time
3rd floor 9:30am – 11:00am
2nd floor 11:00am – 12:30pm
1st floor 12:30pm – 2:00pm

Move-In Instructions:

  1. Keep your Rambler (Student ID) in an easy to find spot
  2. Make sure you have downloaded the HID and CORQ apps to your phone
  3. Once it is your move-in time block, arrive at your residence hall and park in the nearby unloading zone.  This time block is your arrival time – once everything is unloaded, please take your time to get unpacked and settled in.
  4. With your Rambler, head to the check-in station for your residence hall (follow signs)
  5. Speak with a residence life staff member, who will check you in and update your Rambler
  6. Unload your vehicle and move all cars to H-Lot for extended parking.
  7. Move your belongings into your room and unpack – welcome home!  Only Potomac Place has an elevator.
