Financial Aid Workshop
The 2025–26 FAFSA® form is now available for all students and contributors. Complete the form to apply for financial aid for college. TRIO and the Office of Financial Aid are partnering to assist students with completing their financial aid applications. Join us on January 22nd from 11:10 a.m. to 2:10 p.m. in library room 307.
Creative Arts Career Panel
January 30th, Join us for an engaging and informative Career Panel Series, where students will have the unique opportunity to hear from distinguished professionals representing a diverse range of industries, including creative arts careers, humanities, health and wellness, and law and government. These panels are designed to provide valuable insights into various career paths, industry trends, and the skills needed to thrive in today’s dynamic job market. This panel will be from 4 pm – 5:30 pm in the Byrd Center Auditorium.

TRIO Voices Unite: Student and Alumni Advocacy Webinar
February 3rd & 5th, The Council for Opportunities in Education (COE) is conducting a Webinar that will be focused on “TRIO Voices Unite: Student and Alumni Advocacy”. This webinar will equip participants with essential tools to effectively share the importance of TRIO Programs, and it is also geared at helping TRIO students gain the knowledge that they need to advocate on behalf of TRIO Programs. Virtual (Synchronous) Study Abroad Workshop
February 4th, Join our TRIO Ambassador, Mirian Hernandez, as she shares her incredible experience studying abroad in Costa Rica! Mirian will discuss her journey, the cultural immersion, and how the trip impacted her personal and academic growth. Don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity to learn about the study abroad experience from a firsthand perspective! The ZOOM link will be emailed to all TRIO students. Professional Connections Day
February 5th, Join the Career Services and Alumni Affairs Office for a day to prep for your next step! This is a free one-day networking event where you can speak with professionals in the field you are interested in and learn about options after graduation. The event will host a variety of professionals to discuss topics from, “Leadership: Good Management Practices” to, “Properly Utilizing Job Search Resources”. Join us from 10 am – 5 pm in the Student Center.

February 10th, Join our TRIO Intern, Connor Moles, as he teaches students how to properly compose and send emails to professors and other important recipients. Proper email etiquette can help students get questions answered quickly, and efficiently, so don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity! Love is in the Air Workshop
February 13th, Join your fellow TRIO student, Melody Taylor, as she focuses on fate, theorem, and acts of service during this workshop that’s close to the day of love. This workshop will be covering a few simple topics about some beliefs on love and their backgrounds, so make sure to join us since “Love is in the air” and it won’t be one you want to miss! Don’t Stress but Don’t Blow Off Workshop
February 17th, Join our TRIO Intern, Connor Moles, as he teaches students the important do’s and don’ts when it comes to midterms, since while midterms are not an individuals final grade, it can greatly impact it. This workshop will give students information about ways they can improve their midterm experience and make it less stressful, so don’t miss out on this exciting opportunity! February 24th, ALL TRIO students are encouraged to join Director of Career Services Matt Hoffman for an engaging workshop on how to build your resume. Whether you are a freshman, sophomore, junior, or senior, this workshop can help you obtain a job, internship, fellowship, or new career. Time and Location to be announced.

The Power of Saying No Workshop
March 3rd, Join our TRIO Intern, Clarence Eggleston, as he helps students who struggle with both overcommitting and burn-out. This workshop will focus on teaching students how to set healthy boundaries in academics, social life, and work. Learning the power of saying “no” effectively will translate into more confidence in prioritizing what truly matters! Join us from 11:30 am – 12:30pm in Scarborough Library, Room 256.
Career Fair
March 5th, Join the Career Services for this amazing event that will provide so many different opportunities! The Career Fair is for Shepherd students looking for career and networking opportunities with professionals in and around the Eastern Panhandle and DMV area. This event is for any student, regardless of class standing, who are interested in learning about career and job opportunities available to them after graduation. Join us from 10 am – 2 pm in the Wellness Center.
After Spring Break Workshop
March 17th, Join our TRIO Intern, Connor Moles, as he helps students acclimate to campus after spring break, and helping them get ready for what they have to do for the remaining half of the semester. This workshop will detail what students who are returning to campus can do to recollect themselves and make sure the remaining weeks of the semester can be just as great as their starting weeks! Rejection-Proof: How to Handle Setbacks Workshop
March 26th, Join our TRIO Intern, Clarence Eggleston, as he helps students handle setbacks and turn “no” into opportunities. This workshop will teach students how to handle setbacks, reframe rejection, and turn losses into wins. By the end, students will have the confidence to bounce back stronger and seize new opportunities! Join us from 11:30 am – 12:30pm in Scarborough Library, Room 256.

Finals, Studying Practices, & Stress Relievers Workshop
April 14th, Join our TRIO Intern, Connor Moles, as he helps students by giving them a lesson on finals, how they can study for them, and ways they can relieve the stress finals brings upon all college students. This workshop will teach students proper studying tactics so they can get better grades on their Finals. It will also touch on multiple ways to relieve all of the stress that Finals can create.
