SUAIC Tabler Farm Open House

Event Details

Tabler Farm invites you to our annual fall open house on Saturday, October 7th, 2023.

From 1 pm – 4 pm, visitors are free to roam Tabler Farm and visit designated sites. Each site will host a Shepherd staff or faculty member with specialized knowledge pertaining to said site. Visitors are encouraged to ask questions!

Welcome Booth
Speak with a farm representative for general information about Tabler Farm.

Aquaponics Lab
Host: Dr. Peter Vila; professor of environmental science and aquatic ecology | Lead designer and builder of the aquaponics lab

Native Food Forest & Food Production Plot
Host: Madison Hale; Farm Coordinator | Oversees all vegetable production and spearheaded the native food forest project

Bee Apiary & Solar Voltaic System
Host: Dr. Jeff Groff; professor of environmental science and physics | Hobby beekeeper and solar energy expert

Incubator Farm Project
Host: Dr. Brooke Comer; professor of environmental science | specialized in small-scale agriculture and soil health, project director of the incubator farm

Pavilion
Enjoy some farm-fresh refreshments and support our program by purchasing Tabler Farm goods such as fresh produce and dried herbs. Note: All purchases are cash/check only. Checks must be written to “SERC”

Kids table: Colored pencils and paper will be available for kids to hang out while parents/guardians tour the farm.

Turn onto the gravel drive off of Billmyer Mill Rd. A blue Shepherd University sign will greet you at the gravel entrance. Follow the driveway straight back until you see red parking signs directing you to turn left into the grassy field. A parking guide will direct you. Please sign in at the welcome table upon arrival.
