An integral part of a social work student’s education at Shepherd University is Practicum experience in a local agency during the student’s senior year. Practicum education in a social service setting provides the student with an intensive practical experience as he or she becomes involved in meeting social welfare needs. The practicum placement is frequently cited by students as their most valuable learning experience.
