Summer Music Programs

String Orchestra Camp

June 17 – June 21, 2019

Once again for 2019, we will be offering a Jr. String Orchestra camp for students in grades 4-7, under the direction of Renee Shaw. This younger group will meet everyday that week from 9:00am-noon. Students enrolled in grades 8-12 during the 2017-2018 academic year are invited to participate in the Sr. String Orchestra Camp. Faculty include Dr. Scott Hippensteel, Heather Austin-Stone, Teresa Gordon, and Camilo Pérez-Mejía. Highlights of the camp include string orchestra rehearsals and a concert, individual and group coaching, chamber music and string quartets, master classes, and faculty performances.

Auditions for Senior String Camp seating will take place on the first day of camp, June 17, 2019. Advanced 6th and 7th graders may also audition with prior approval from the camp faculty and Sherry Sykes, coordinator of the camps.

Summer Jazz Camp

June 24 – June 28, 2019

Highlights of the camp include jazz band rehearsals and a concert for both the Junior and Senior levels, individual and group coaching, combo/improvisation classes, theory classes, master classes, and faculty performances. Students enrolled in grades 6-12 during the 2018 – 19 academic year are invited to participate. College students and jazz enthusiasts are also welcome!

2019 Jazz Camp Faculty include Dr. Kurtis Adams, Kevin Pace, bass;  Jack Kilby, drumset; Griffith Kazmierczak, trumpet; and Joshua Walker, jazz guitar.
