Community Music at Shepherd invites you to join Shepherd Youth Chorus (SYC), a completely free and non-auditioned musical experience for all children in the surrounding region (WV-MD-VA) between the ages of 8 and 16. Sing, move, play, and create with us as we explore popular, folk, and choral music from around the world and close to home! We welcome children of all abilities, backgrounds, and experience levels to join at any time!
The Shepherd Youth Chorus will perform on December 5 at 7:30 pm in the Frank Arts Center. The spring semester rehearsals will be on Wednesday evenings starting January 10-April 17, 2024 with a final concert on April 23 at 7:30 p.m.
2nd-4th Grade will rehearse 6:00 p.m.- 6:40 p.m.
5th-10th Grade will rehearse 6:45 p.m.- 7:45 p.m.
Weekly rehearsals will be in the Frank Arts Center on the campus of Shepherd University.

Dr. Austin Showen, Assistant Professor, is Director of Music Education at Shepherd University. He is a West Virginia native and a proud alumnus of Shepherd University where he earned his Bachelor of Music Education. He also holds a Master of Music Education with Kodály certification from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, and recently completed his doctorate in music education at Arizona State University.
