Shepherd Youth Chorus

Shepherd Youth Chorus goes virtual! Fall 2020

For male and female vocalists who are currently in grades 3-8. If your child loves to sing and would like to learn proper techniques in a fun and challenging atmosphere. All children are invited to participate for Free for the fall semester. Mr. Austin Showen, Shepherd University’s new Director of Music Education, will lead the students through fun music activities, including singing, song writing, and group music games, all from the comfort of your home. This virtual class will incorporate Zoom, Google Classroom and possibly Soundtrap platforms.

The Community Music program is pleased to announce another exciting season for the Shepherd Youth Chorus. The choir is under the direction of Mr. Austin Showen, Professor and Director of Music Education at Shepherd. The Community Youth Chorus membership is comprised of both male and female vocalists who are currently in grades 3-8.

The chorus will meet virtually for FREE on Wednesday evenings from 6:00pm – 7:00pm beginning September 9 – November 18

Mr. Austin Showen, Assistant Professor, is Director of Music Education at Shepherd University. He is a West Virginia native and a proud alumnus of Shepherd University where he earned his Bachelor of Music Education. He also holds a Master of Music Education with Kodály certification from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, and recently completed his doctorate in music education at Arizona State University.
