Submit Test Scores and Transcripts for Course Placement

Shepherd is test-optional for admission; however, official academic information is required to build your class schedule. Students should submit official SAT or ACT scores (particularly English/reading and writing and math), as well as any college-level transcripts, as soon as they are available.

English and math test scores and/or prior college coursework are used to determine course placement and are necessary to develop an appropriate first-semester schedule. Without this information, students will be required to complete additional placement testing (such as Accuplacer), which may delay registration.

Test scores may also be used for scholarship consideration and potential placement exemptions for certain courses or assessments. All test scores and transcripts must be sent directly from the College Board, ACT, or the issuing institution to be considered official.

Submitting Official College-Level Transcripts

Students who have completed college-level coursework must submit official transcripts from each college or university attended. Official transcripts are required to evaluate transfer credit and determine appropriate course placement.

To request your transcript, contact the Registrar’s Office, Records Office, or Student Services Office at your previous college or university. Most institutions allow students to request transcripts online through their website or student portal.

Electronic transcript delivery is usually the fastest option. Mailed transcripts must arrive in a sealed envelope from the issuing institution to be considered official.

Official Final High School Transcripts

Final high school transcripts are required for all incoming students. After graduation, please ask your high school counseling office to send your official final transcript directly to Shepherd University.

Students should request all transcripts as early as possible to avoid delays in registration, course placement, and schedule development.

No test scores? No worries!

Students who do not have SAT or ACT scores may complete Accuplacer placement testing instead.
