Richard Hopkins is a drummer and percussionist with an interest in music’s relationship to human identity and popular culture. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in percussion performance from Shepherd University and a Master’s of Music in ethnomusicology from Bowling Green State University in northwest Ohio. Richard has multiple years of experience in the realm of popular music, having played and recorded with various different original and cover-band acts ranging from punk rock and heavy metal bands to jazz and folk groups and has performed as a lounge and showband musician in the cruise ship industry. He has also spent time researching and engaging with different types of popular and traditional musics from around the world.
