After nearly a decade of serving as the mascot for Shepherd University, J.C. the Ram announced his retirement during the October 19 football game on Homecoming Weekend.
J.C. the Ram was a regular part of events on campus, including football games, parades, open houses, and more. He’s also been there for students from welcoming them during orientation to helping reduce stress and anxiety during finals week.

J.C. was originally purchased with donations from alumni Al ‘67 and Sara ‘67 Lueck; Holly Morgan Frye ‘09, vice president of student affairs and director of community relations, and her husband Jim Frye; and Dr. Ben Martz, dean of the College of Business, Recreation, and Education.
