Professor, alumna present at COPLAC annual meeting

For the COPLAC presentation “The Social Life of Books,” Dr. Benjamin Bankhurst (lower photo with Dr. Scott Beard, associate provost) presented from London, while alumna Meaghan Papeika ’17 (top photo) presented from the campus of Mansfield University of Pennsylvania where the COPLAC annual meeting was held in June.

Dr. Benjamin Bankhurst and alumna Meaghan Papeika ’17 made a presentation titled “The Social Life of Books” at the 29th annual COPLAC (Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges) meeting at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, June 22-24. Bankhurst joined the meeting remotely from London, and Papeika presented in person.

The presentation was based on an online course offered as part of the Mellon Foundation-funded COPLACDigital initiative in spring 2017. For seven weeks, students from seven campuses met twice per week via videoconference for an introduction to questions of bibliography and book history. Papeika’s project focused on Shepherd’s historic yearbook The Cohongoroota and can be viewed at http://slob.coplacdigital.org/shepherd/.
