Shepherd University has assembled a select group of strategic partners who support one another in student and faculty exchange. Together they develop joint and dual degree programs and collaborate in teaching, research, and special programming. These partners serve as portals into their surrounding regions, offering enhanced opportunities for students and faculty to pursue their academic interests.

Advisory Councils
Shepherd University has several groups that guide and support the University’s global engagement.
The Internationalization Advisory Council (IAC) “serves in an advisory capacity to the Provost/Vice President for Academic Affairs, Vice President for Enrollment Management, Director of International Affairs, and Director of Study Abroad. In that capacity, it guides internationalization strategies and initiatives at Shepherd University consistent with the Internationalization Strategic Plan, 2023-2028.
The IAC serves as a forum for discussing current and emerging trends in internationalization in higher education; promoting campus collaboration on initiatives and activities; and disseminating ideas and information regarding international teaching and learning, research, and service.” (Council Charge)
Membership is governed by the Council’s bylaws in which prospective members may apply and be approved or be elected as representatives. A sub-committee of the IAC deals exclusively with study abroad issues. For information about the Council, contact Dr. Ann Marie Legreid alegreid@shepherd.edu
Global Studies Advisory Council serves as an advisory group to the Director of the Global Studies Bachelor of Arts degree program, Dr. Marat Akopian, Department of Political Science, Global Studies, and Geography. The board reflects the interdisciplinary nature of the degree program itself, with representatives from across the Shepherd campus, i.e., Dr. Sally Brasher (History); Dr. Denis Berenschot (Modern Languages); Dr. Jason Allen (Education); Dr. Amanda Mandzik (Economics); Dr. Jeffrey Groff (Environmental Studies); Dr. Ann Marie Legreid (Geography); and Dr. Samuel Greene (Study Abroad Director; Political Science).
