Dr. Marcia K. Brand, outgoing chair of the Shepherd University Board of Governors, was honored with a resolution read by President Mary J.C. Hendrix citing Brand’s accomplishments and support during her eight-year tenure on the board.
Brand was the first board member to serve as chair for more than two terms, presiding in that capacity from 2015 to 2018. Brand, who led the presidential search process for the 16th president of the university, funds two merit-based internship awards annually for Shepherd students pursuing experience in rural health policy, at either the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP) or the National Rural Health Association (NRHA) and co-chairs the annual Music Scholarship Showcase event in support of the Shepherd music program, which has provided $80,000 in scholarship awards.
