Nomination Process and Deadlines

Annual Faculty Awards – Full-time Faculty

Deadline: March 29, 2021

All materials should be submitted electronically to Sharika Abdul-Muhaimin, sadbulmu@shepherd.edu

Outstanding Advisor, Scholar, Service, Teacher

Nomination Requirements

Must be full-time faculty member during the previous academic year.
Nomination/Self-nomination must include statement about why the person is deserving of the particular award based on contributions during the current year.
Current CV must be provided.
Advising evaluations (most recent) will be provided to the Awards Committee by the Director of Academic Advising for all nominees for Outstanding Advisor.
Fall course evaluations will be pulled for all nominees for Outstanding Teacher.
Faculty may be nominated for more than one award but packets should be separate for each.

Winners

Receive special medallion
Have name listed on a perpetual award plaque
Have name listed on Shepherd University faculty award pages
Receive a $500 professional development award from the Division of Academic Affairs

Committee (Scholar, Service, Teacher): Assistant Provost for Faculty Affairs (non-voting); Enrollment Management staff member; Student Affairs staff member; clinical faculty member; Professor Emeritus/a; first-year faculty member (4 – College rep)

Committee (Advising): Assistant Provost for Faculty Affairs (non-voting); faculty representative (4 – College rep.); clinical faculty members and Academic Affairs staff

Storer College Faculty Award

Nomination Requirements

Must be full-time faculty member during the previous academic year.
Nomination/Self-nomination must include statement about why the person is deserving of the particular award based on contributions.
Current CV must be provided.
Most recent annual report.
All syllabi and any other supporting documents tied to the criteria of the award.
Copy of most recent merit letter.

Winners

Receive individual plaque
Have name listed on a perpetual award plaque
Have name listed on Shepherd University faculty award pages
Receive a $500 professional development award from the Diversity and Equity Committee

Committee: Assistant Provost for Faculty Affairs (non-voting); Diversity & Equity Committee members (2); Dean (1); faculty (2); student (grad – 1; undegrad – 1)

Douglas Smith Distinguished Faculty Award

Nomination Requirements

Must be graduate faculty member (full-time or affiliate) during the previous academic year.
Nomination/Self-nomination must include statement about why the person is deserving of the particular award based on contributions to graduate culture including teaching, scholarship, and service
Current CV must be provided.
Most recent annual report.
All syllabi and any other supporting documents tied to the criteria of the award.

Winners

Receive special medallion.
Receive an individual plaque.
Have name listed on a perpetual award plaque.
Have name listed on Shepherd University faculty award pages.
Receive a $500 professional development award from the School of Graduate and Professional Studies.
