SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Yin Star, Shepherd University’s study abroad director, has been awarded the J. William Fulbright International Education Administrators Seminar award to Japan through the internationally recognized Fulbright Program. The core of the Fulbright Program is devoted to increasing mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. Fulbright is the world’s largest and most diverse international educational exchange program.
“I am humbled and honored to be selected for this prestigious award since the Fulbright program is recognized worldwide and has been instrumental in ensuring that Senator Fulbright’s legacy continues to be felt both within the U.S. and beyond its borders,” Star said.
The Fulbright International Education Administrators Seminar requires applicants to submit a letter of invitation from an international university, a project statement, and reference letters. The entire application process is managed by a presidentially appointed 12-member board responsible for supervising the Fulbright Program worldwide and approving the selection of all Fulbright recipients.
Due to COVID-19, the Fulbright Seminar to Japan may be canceled. Regardless, Star feels the Fulbright award validates her professional standing in the international education field and emphasizes her talent, strength, and love of working with students and faculty as an international educator.
