SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Shepherd University Foundation’s Women Investing in Shepherd (WISH) group announces a $52,500 grant opportunity for nonprofit organizations and Shepherd University learning programs.
WISH, a women’s giving circle sponsored by the Shepherd University Foundation, will award two inaugural high-impact grants, each equaling $26,250, to nonprofit organizations or Shepherd University learning projects which strive to address critical community needs or wish to make a local or tri-state community impact.
All letters of inquiry must be received on or before March 1 to be considered for the grants. Nonprofit organizations must submit IRS determination letters with their applications.
To be eligible for the grant from the community nonprofit pool, applicants must be 501 (c) (3) organizations and provide services in the following counties: Jefferson, Berkeley, Morgan, and Hampshire counties, West Virginia; Frederick, Loudoun, and Clarke counties, Virginia; and Frederick and Washington counties, Maryland.
A Shepherd University applicant must be recognized as an approved academic, athletic, cultural, or community service program carried out by students, faculty, or staff and sanctioned by the supervising vice president or dean.
The grant selection is based on WISH members dividing their $500 annual contribution between the two grant entities and a “one-woman, one-vote” process to determine the two grant recipients.
