SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Nonprofit organizations and Shepherd University groups addressing critical community needs are invited to submit letters of inquiry to Women Investing in Shepherd (WISH) for WISH’s 2023 grant awards totaling $142,000.
WISH will award two nonprofit grants of $35,500 each and two Shepherd University learning project grants of $35,500 each for the 2023 cycle. Qualifying nonprofit organizations must be designated 501 (c) (3) public charities. Shepherd organizations must be University-sanctioned to be eligible. Letters of inquiry are due by March 10. After reviewing the submissions, select organizations will be asked to submit a formal grant proposal.
Nonprofits in the counties of Berkeley, Jefferson, Morgan, and Hampshire in West Virginia; Washington and Frederick in Maryland; and Clarke, Frederick, and Loudoun in Virginia are eligible to apply for grants.
In 2022, WISH awarded four grants totaling $127,500 collectively to community nonprofits Berkeley Senior Services and Shepherdstown Public Library, and to Shepherd University learning projects Department of Biology and the Campus Resource Scarcity Initiative. WISH reached a major milestone in 2022 by surpassing the $1 million high-impact grant funding mark with $1,011,500 raised since forming in 2014.
WISH, a women’s giving circle made up of alumnae and community members, was created to educate, engage, and empower women to achieve their philanthropic goals.
