WISH accepting letters of inquiry from campus groups, area nonprofits

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Nonprofit organizations and Shepherd University groups addressing critical community needs are invited to submit letters of inquiry to Women Investing in Shepherd (WISH) for WISH’s 2021 grant awards.

WISH will award two nonprofit grants in the amount of $31,250 each and two Shepherd University learning project grants in the amount of $31,250 each for the 2021 grant cycle. Qualifying nonprofit organizations must be designated as 501 (c) (3) public charities. Organizations and groups affiliated with Shepherd must be university sanctioned. Applicants submitting an inquiry by March 15 will be notified about eligibility to submit a formal grant proposal.

In 2020, WISH awarded five grants totaling $160,255 collectively to community nonprofits A Farm Less Ordinary, Catholic Charities, and WV Freshealthy Bucks, and Shepherd University learning projects Chemistry Lab Revitalization and the School of Education Collaborative Technology Innovation initiative. Over six grant cycles, $617,000 has been awarded in high-impact grant funding.

WISH, a women’s giving circle made up of both alumnae and community members, was established in 2014 by the Shepherd University Foundation. WISH was created to educate, engage, and empower women to achieve their philanthropic goals.
