Shepherd University Foundation announces new George Washington Chair of Living Ethics

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Robert Richardson, assistant professor of business administration, has been named the George Washington Chair of Living Ethics at Shepherd University. The Washington Chair of Ethics organizing committee, Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation, and Shepherd University Foundation collaborated to establish the endowed George Washington Chair of Living Ethics fund to attract a nationally recognized scholar to hold a full-time position at Shepherd.

As chair, Richardson will teach ethics courses, organize public lectures on ethics and leadership, and collaborate with other faculty to enhance the teaching of living ethics across the curriculum. He will work closely with Dr. Heidi Hanrahan, professor of English and assistant dean of interdisciplinary and integrative studies, to fulfill the objectives of the role.

Richardson has an extensive global background as an attorney, consultant, and corporate executive with experience spanning pharmaceuticals, technology, retail, and higher education. He has worked in Tokyo, Japan; Silicon Valley; New York City; Toronto, Canada; and West Virginia.
