SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University and Catholic Distance University have signed a memorandum of understanding and articulation agreement that will help students transfer from CDU’s Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts, with a concentration in Catholic studies, to Shepherd’s Regent’s Bachelor of Arts program.

“Shepherd is pleased to sign a memorandum of understanding and articulation agreement with Catholic Distance University, and we are excited about this opportunity to partner with CDU to provide lifelong learning for a new population of students in our region and beyond,” said Dr. Scott Beard, Shepherd provost.

“We are excited about the opportunities for our students and continuing opportunities for our faculty to work together and explore ways of expanding our curriculum,” said Dr. Marianne Evans Mount, Catholic Distance president. “We are thrilled to be working with a state university like Shepherd.”

Catholic Distance University, which is headquartered in Charles Town, has provided distance education in the Catholic faith and theology since 1983 and today offers undergraduate and graduate degree and certificate programs completely online. Established in 1871, Shepherd is a public liberal arts university offering more than 90 programs of study to the residents of West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania.
