MARTINSBURG, WV — The Shepherd University Martinsburg Center is offering several events to help students and residents from the community further their education and find employment.
Two career preparation workshops are scheduled for September 17 called “Selling Your Skills in a Résumé and Interview Success.”
The goal of this workshop, which is being conducted in partnership with Workforce West Virginia, is to equip participants with better résumé and interview skills so they can find a job or improve their employment situation.
“These skills will also bring value to adult learners upon degree completion by helping them apply for future career opportunities,” said Jim Klein, Martinsburg Center director. “One of the biggest obstacles for Shepherd University adult learners is the financial burden incurred while pursuing their degree.”
Two sessions are planned, from 10-11:30 a.m. and from 5-6:30 p.m. The workshops are open to the public but participants are required to pre-register.
The Shepherd Martinsburg Center is also hosting a job fair on October 8 from noon-5:30 p.m. that will allow workshop participants to try out their new résumé writing and interview skills. Shepherd is inviting business partners to set up tables and recruit prospective employees.
The job fair will also provide information on what degrees Shepherd offers. Prospective students will be able to apply to University programs.
For more information, or to pre-register for the September 17 workshop, contact the Martinsburg Center at 304-263-3303 or visit the web at www.martinsburgcenter.info.
