SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University and Harford Community College in Maryland have signed a transfer agreement that will offer students who transfer to Shepherd directly from Harford a 25 percent tuition discount provided they have earned an associate degree and possess a cumulative grade point average of 2.8.
“I’m very excited to be partnering with Harford Community College,” said Kristen Lorenz, Shepherd’s director of admissions. “This new agreement will add a pathway for Harford students to complete their degree at Shepherd. Students will benefit from having advisement from Shepherd counselors during their time at Harford, to ensure a seamless transition into a bachelor’s program.”
Students who take advantage of the program are guaranteed on-campus housing at Shepherd, and the application fee will be waived. Students will have access to academic advising from Shepherd during their time at Harford, with anticipation of transfer.
“Our new partnership with Shepherd represents a wonderful opportunity for Harford students to continue their education at an exemplary university,” said Elizabeth Mosser, associate dean for Academic Operations and deputy Title IX coordinator at Harford Community College. “The agreement encourages our students to work hard and complete their studies at HCC while also positioning them for a four-year degree at Shepherd. The multitude of benefits that come with this partnership and support student success make it very exciting indeed!”
Lorenz said Shepherd hopes to work with Harford to establish 2+2 agreements in the near future.
