SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Shepherd University School of Music is hosting a variety of concerts throughout the month of December, including two recitals, the annual Holiday Gala, TubaChristmas, and a Community Music youth concert. Concerts scheduled are:
- Composition Recital—Monday, December 2, 7:30 p.m. Young composers present their vision of the future of music. Frank Center McCoy Rehearsal Hall. Free and open to the public.
- Small Ensembles Recital—Tuesday, December 3, 7:30 p.m. Mixed student chamber ensembles will present works by various composers. Frank Center W. H. Shipley Recital Hall. Free and open to the public.
- Annual Holiday Gala Concert—Saturday, December 7, 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 8, 3 p.m. Join us for a holiday musical tradition featuring the Shepherd Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Chamber Singers, Camerata Soprano/Alto Choir, and Aries Tenor/Bass Choir in the Frank Center Theater. The Sunday Family matinee features an appearance by Santa and an instrument “Petting Zoo” for all ages. $15 general admission; $10 Shepherd employees, senior citizens, and ages 18 and under; free for Shepherd students with a valid Rambler ID.
- Shepherd Community Orchestra and Youth Chorus—Wednesday, December 11, 7:30 p.m. The Shepherd Youth Chorus, directed by Dr. David Gonzol, and the Shepherd Community Orchestra, directed by Camilo Perez-Mejia, present their first concert of the season in the Frank Center Theater. $5 general admission; free for Shepherd students with a valid Rambler ID.
- TubaChristmas—Saturday, December 14, 1 p.m. on the steps of McMurran Hall. Free and open to the public. Rain location in Reynolds Hall.
