SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s School of Music will present several concerts, a play, and a jazz festival during the month of February. Scheduled events include:
- Friday, February 14, and Saturday, February 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 16 at 3 p.m., musical comedy “25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee,” Marinoff Theater. Admission is $15 for general public; $10 for Shepherd employees and alumni, senior citizens, and students 18 and under; and free for Shepherd students with a valid Rambler ID.
- Friday, February 21 at 7:30 p.m., Frank Center Theater, Wind Ensemble Concert. Join the Wind Ensemble for an evening “Celebrating Life” with the music of composers Scott McAllister, Eric Whitacre, Malcolm Arnold, Russell Alexander, David Maslanka, and a piece titled “Twitch” by Nathan Daugherty featuring Shepherd clarinet professor David Drosinos. A free pre-concert lecture describing the works will begin at 7 p.m. in the Frank Center Theater. Admission is $15 for the general public; $10 for Shepherd employees and alumni, senior citizens, and students 18 and under; and free for Shepherd students with a valid Rambler ID.
- Saturday, February 22 at 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Frank Center Theater, Shepherd Jazz Festival. Middle and high schools jazz groups from the region perform throughout the day, concluding with an exhibition performance by the Shepherd University Jazz Ensemble at 5 p.m. Free and open to the public.
- Thursday, February 27 at 7:30 p.m., W.H. Shipley Recital Hall, Salon Series sponsored by Jefferson Security Bank, featuring award-winning pianist Lynne Mackey. Free and open to the public.
