SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Shepherd University Scarborough Society Art and Lecture Series will feature Shepherd painting/illustration B.F.A. candidate Timothy Butcher on Wednesday, April 13, at 7 p.m. in the Scarborough Library Reading Room. The program is free and open to the public and a reception will follow the lecture.

Butcher will explore how the art object has become more ambiguous as the age of post-postmodernism approaches, while providing a look at his own work with modern digital skills and narrative use of antiquated technology, interlacing the past and the future.

Butcher has created several live-action shorts and animated films, winning three awards regionally and nationally for excellence in the avant-garde category for his movies “Libra” (2017) and “Walk Again With Me” (2019). He recently published a children’s picture book titled “Gilbert’s Backwards Day.” After graduation, Butcher plans to continue his studies in visual storytelling.

The Scarborough Society is a friends of the library organization sponsored by the Shepherd University Foundation. Annual membership dues help support library acquisitions, technology, and programs. Membership is open to all interested supporters of the Scarborough Library.
