SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University alum Kristina M. Hoffman will give an author talk. in the Main Reading Room of the Scarborough Library, 209 N. King St., Shepherdstown, West Virginia, on Wednesday, March 20, at 4 p.m. The event will be free to the public and available for all ages.

Hoffman is an author/illustrator, who blends sci-fi/fantasy with adventure and comedy, resembling entertainment from the 1980s and 1990s. Her first illustrated sci-fi/fantasy series, “Destined Existence: The Unique Campaign,” is inspired by tabletop role-playing games she played with her husband and close friends. Created for the young at heart, “Destined Existence” an illustrated sci-fi/fantasy adventure comedy about five unusual friends: a warrior, spaceman, wizard, faerie, and cyborg surviving a post-apocalyptic Earth in the future.

This author’s talk will closely resemble a Ted Talk. Hoffman’s goal is to give students and like-minded individuals an insight into the world of professional art, illustration, and self-publishing. Hoffman also hopes to explain to students that “there is nothing wrong with self-publishing and doing the work yourself. It’s fulfilling. It’s a step in the right direction. It’s being free to do what you want.”
