SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The 2019-2020 Shepherd University School of Music Salon Series concert scheduled for Thursday, November 7, titled “Weathering the Storm” has been canceled.
Other Salon Series concerts planned for this season are:
- Thursday, January 30, 2020: “Early Music Masterpieces” featuring Shepherd faculty Brooke Evers, soprano, and an ensemble performing a program of works by Monteverdi, Buxtehude, and Handel. The ensemble includes soprano Lisa Dodson, violinists Elizabeth Field and Annie Loud, cellist Stephanie Vial, guitarist John Armato, and organist Patrick Merrill.
- Thursday, February 27, 2020: Pianist Lynne Mackey will present a program titled “International Miniatures,” which will include a variety of solo repertoire, ranging from Chopin, Ravel, Rachmaninoff, Albeniz, Cowell, and Tan Dun.
- Thursday, March 26, 2020: Shepherd adjunct faculty, bassist Robin Rhodes and Friends will perform selections from AfroHouse’s house concert experimentation, featuring Afrofuturistic music that is disruptive, exuberant, innovative, emergent, and transformative, with beats, noise, and lush harmonies.
