SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s Residence Life partnered with Horizon Goodwill Industries for a Move Out Donation Drive when students moved out of the residence halls at the end of the 2018-2019 school year.

This is the second year Goodwill has put donation bins in residence halls and the commuter lounge so students could donate clothing, shoes, accessories, furniture, household items, bedding, games, sports equipment, books, and toys. This year’s donations totaled 3,574 pounds, more than double last year’s 1,508 pounds.

Residence Life increased marketing for the program this year by utilizing various social media resources and inviting Lance Crossman, Shepherd alumnus and associate director of operations for Horizon Goodwill Industries, to speak to students on April 24 about the programs Goodwill offers in the community. Crossman’s talk was aired live on the Shepherd University Student Affairs Facebook page.
