Poet-in-Residence Maxwell Snyder to read from Appalachian Anthology July 14

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University Poet-in-Residence Hope Maxwell Snyder, one of several writers in the “Anthology of Appalachian Writers, Karen Spears Zacharias Volume XI,” will read from the newly published anthology at Four Seasons Books, 114 West German St., on Sunday, July 14, at 4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Maxwell Snyder, who has recently established the Society for Creative Writing at Shepherd, will read, along with several other local writers featured in the volume, including Sadie Shorr-Parks, Shepherd adjunct English professor; Tyler Baturin, local poet; and Ginny Fite, award-winning journalist, poet, and fiction writer. Ally Wharton, one of the Anthology editors, will read from her new chapbook.

The Anthology is part of the Appalachian Heritage Writer-in-Residence project of Shepherd’s Center for Appalachian Studies and Communities, which partners with the West Virginia Center for the Book and West Virginia Library Commission. The books are available in the Shepherd University Bookstore and are distributed to bookstores, libraries, and schools across the state.
