New faculty welcomed

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University is welcoming new fulltime faculty members and academic staff for the 2019-2020 school year.

New faculty include Jason Boardley, Odenton, Maryland, lecturer/assistant men’s basketball coach, former assistant men’s basketball coach at Frederick Community College; Dr. Courtney Campany, Dryden, New York, visiting assistant professor of biology, former post doctoral biology fellow at Colgate University and research fellow at Western Sydney University, Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment; Dr. Samuel David, Odessa, Texas, visiting assistant professor of chemistry, former visiting assistant professor at the University of Texas Permian Basin, University of Wisconsin, and Berea College; Dr. James Dovel, Boise, Idaho, assistant professor of business administration, former general manager of Sourdough Lodge in Lowman, Idaho, and adjunct business professor at Steven’s Henager College; Dr. Naomi Gades, Frostburg, Maryland, lecturer of English, former instructor at Loyola University Chicago; Dr. Julianna Hayward, Frederick, Maryland, clinical faculty/staff accompanist, former accompanist at the University of North Carolina Greensboro, Wingate University, and Winthrop University; Kenneth Johnson, Randallstown, Maryland, lecturer/assistant football coach/athletics assistant, former defensive coordinator at Seton Hill University and Lincoln University and assistant football coach and recruitment coordinator at Frostburg State University; and Dr. Bethann Mendez, Winchester, Virginia, assistant professor of nursing, former director of critical care services at Winchester Medical Center;

Other new faculty are Dr. Pavel Naumov, Rockville, Maryland, assistant professor of computer information systems, former visiting assistant professor at Claremont McKenna College, Vassar College, Illinois Wesleyan University, and William Paterson University; Dr. Kellie Riffe-Snyder, Shenandoah Junction, assistant professor of nursing, former assistant professor of nursing at Mountain State University; k.b. saine, Buckhannon, assistant professor of theater, who has served as director for numerous theaters and productions and has worked as a playright, dramaturg, consultant and producing artistic director; Dr. Ram Sigdel, Guelph, Ontario, lecturer of mathematics, former teaching assistant at the University of Guelph and Wilfrid Laurier University and former lecturer at Tribhuvan University in Nepal; Dr. Conor Sipe, Troy, Virginia, assistant professor of biology, who previously collaborated on courses and laboratories and taught at the University of Virginia; Dr. Valerie Stevens, Lexington, Kentucky, lecturer of English, former teaching assistant at the University of Kentucky and James Madison University; and Alois Weidinger, Bend, Oregon, assistant professor of accounting, former assistant professor of accounting and finance at American University of Afghanistan, Kabul.

Adjunct faculty who now have full-time appointments are Dr. Jason Allen, Martinsburg, assistant professor of education; Evan Boggess, Shepherdstown, lecturer of art, who will continue as Phaze 2 Gallery director; Brooke Evers Moore, Boonsboro, Maryland, lecturer of music; Jessica Graham, lecturer of recreation, sport, and exercise sciences; Dustyn Icard, professional advisor, College of Business; Dr. Donald Mills, Shepherdstown, assistant professor of mathematics and data analytics and program coordinator of the Master of Science in data analytics and information systems; YoonJa Mortensen, Martinsburg, clinical faculty of mathematics; Dr. George Ray, Charles Town, assistant professor of business administration; Dr. Julia Tracy, Harpers Ferry, professor of physical education; and Dr. Ann Wendle, clinical assistant professor and graduate program coordinator for College Student Development Administration.
