SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s Debate and Forensics Team brought back numerous awards from the 2019 Pi Kappa Delta Biennial National Championship Tournament that took place March 20-24 at Hofstra University in Hempstead, New York.
Miranda Jones, a political science major from Huntingtown, Maryland, is the national runner-up in First Year Policy Debate. Jones came in 14th in Radio Broadcasting, and 12th in Interviewing. Other Shepherd students who placed are Spencer VanHoose, a political science major from Martinsburg, and Madison Ronevich, a political science major from Inwood, 12th in First Year National Parliamentary Debate; and Ilynn Brennan, a music education major from Fairmont, and Aubrey Duckworth, a business administration major from Kingwood, top 25 in the country for Dramatic Duo Interpretation. VanHoose also came in 36th in Interviewing. Overall, Shepherd placed in the top 30 debate programs in the country.
