SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Shepherd University Martinsburg Center, 261 Aikens Center, is offering free document shredding during its next open house on Saturday, August 5, from 9 a.m.-noon. In addition to document shredding, the open house will offer the public a chance to tour the center and learn more about the programs offered there, donate to the Berkeley County BackPack Program, and give blood to the American Red Cross.

RMS Mobile Data Shredding will accept a maximum of four paper boxes from each person that contain paper, file folders, hanging files, computer files, computer paper, notepads, and envelopes. There is no need to remove staples, paper clips and fasteners, and rubber bands.

In lieu of payment, RMS will accept donations for the Berkeley County BackPack Program, which provides food in schools that students can take home. The BackPack Program accepts monetary donations as well as donations of food like macaroni and cheese, fruit cups, cereal bars, bottled water, and fresh produce.

The Eastern Panhandle Transit Authority is offering limited complimentary transportation to the Martinsburg Center for those who register by August 2. For details, call 304-263-0876. Chickfil-A of Martinsburg will serve refreshments and the American Red Cross will also conduct a blood drive from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. that day in an adjacent parking lot.
