SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s Martinsburg Center received an $8,000 grant from the Berkeley County Industrial Park Development Fund to help students achieve their education. The grant will provide scholarships for students seeking Master of Business Administration and Regents Bachelor of Arts degrees and stipends for students working in internships.
“We hope that the grant will financially assist Shepherd students continuing to graduation while helping a business or community organization through an internship,” said Jim Klein, Martinsburg Center director. “Ultimately, the practical experience may help our graduates impacted by the scholarship become more employable. A portion of the grant will also help new students take the first step toward investing in their future with a degree from Shepherd University.”
The grant will allow Shepherd to award four students $1,000 academic scholarships each and will support four other students in internships. Klein pointed out the students receiving support for internships will help not only the students, but also the companies they work for by helping those companies develop local talent.
