Department of Music to host youth strings, chorus auditions January 16

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Shepherd Community Orchestra and Junior String Ensemble will hold auditions for the spring semester on Wednesday, January 16, from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

The Junior String Ensemble, under the direction of Renee Shaw, meets every Wednesday evening from 6-7 p.m. and is open to elementary and middle school-age string players. The Shepherd Community Orchestra, under the direction of Camilo Pérez-Mejía, meets every Wednesday evening from 7:30-9 p.m. and is for advanced string players in middle and high school, as well as adult community members. Tuition for either ensemble is $125 per semester.

The Shepherd Youth Chorus, under the direction of Dr. David Gonzol, will host auditions for the spring semester on Wednesday, January 16, from 5:15-6 p.m. Rehearsals for Youth Chorus take place every Wednesday from 6:10-7:30 p.m. beginning January 16. All students in grades 3-8 are welcome to audition and participate. Tuition for the Shepherd Youth Chorus is $125 per semester.

Partial scholarships are available for both programs through support from Younis Orthodontics. The spring performance for the Community Orchestra, Junior Spring Ensemble, and Youth Chorus is scheduled for Wednesday, May 1, at 7:30 p.m. in the Frank Center Theater.
