Department of Music to host November 14 piano concert

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s Department of Music will present a Piano Ensemble and Studio Recital in the Frank Center’s W. H. Shipley Recital Hall on Wednesday, November 14, at 6 p.m. under the direction of Dr. Yu-Hsuan Liao, associate professor of piano and coordinator of keyboard studies. The concert is free and open to the public.

Selections include compositions by Mozart and Percy Grainger for two pianos with six hands, works by Anthon Rubinstein and Emmannuel Chabrier for two pianos with eight hands, and a duet piece for piano and organ. Shepherd alumnae Mary Granofsky Remsburg and Heidi Macaluso will be special guests performing with current students.

A native of Taipei, Taiwan, Liao is the district chair of Eastern Panhandle Music Teachers Association and WVMTA state collaborative performance chair. She regularly gives master classes and is in demand for adjudication at festivals and competitions around the West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., region.
