SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s Department of Contemporary Art and Theater is offering area high school students the opportunity to discover their inner artist and learn how they can turn their passion for art into a career through a “Create Yourself Here Workshop” scheduled for Monday, October 9, from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Those attending will participate in an art workshop, see a demonstration of a 3D printer, have the opportunity to get a portfolio review by a faculty member, and tour the campus.
Students will be able to choose from two workshops. In one, they will draw an image with a Sharpie marker, then ink it and print it using a high-pressure press. The other workshop will teach them how to transfer photos onto alternative surfaces using everyday household items. Students will also work in groups using a 3D printer, laser cutter, and CNC to make a collaborative sculpture.
For more information and to register for the workshop, visit www.shepherd.edu/art/art-workshop.
