SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University’s Masterworks Chorale will be holding its first rehearsal for the 2015-2016 season on Monday, August 24, at 7:30 p.m. in the Frank Center McCoy Rehearsal Hall. Anyone interested in joining the chorale is invited to attend the rehearsal and sign up for an audition.
The 130-member vocal ensemble, comprised of Shepherd University students and members from the surrounding community, presents two full-length concerts per year of great masterpieces from the choral literature and appears at the Annual Holiday Gala and Family Concert. The fall concert on Saturday, November 14, will feature three modern works—John Rutter’s “Gloria,” Leonard Bernstein’s “Chichester Psalms,” and Paul Winter’s “Earth Mass,” with the choir and a jazz ensemble led by Dr. Kurtis Adams, assistant professor of music and director of jazz studies.
The Chorale will appear at the Annual Holiday Gala Concert at the Frank Center on Saturday, December 5, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, December 6, at 3 p.m. The spring concert featuring Verdi’s Requiem will take place on Saturday, April 23, 2016 .
The Masterworks Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Erik Reid Jones, associate professor of music and director of choral activities, meets Monday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in the Frank Center.
