Aries Tenor/Bass Choir to host free concert April 28

SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Shepherd University Aries Tenor/Bass Choir, directed by Dr. Rob Tudor, chair of the Department of Music, will present a concert at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 106 S. Duke St., Sunday, April 28, at 3 p.m. The choir is made up of music majors and music enthusiasts who rehearse two and a half hours weekly on repertoire ranging from early sacred chant to gospel, folk tunes, pop, rock, and world music. Almost all music is sung a cappella.

The choir will present “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen, an Estonian song by Pärt Uusberg, a traditional Zambian song titled “Bonse aba,” an Irish song titled “The Parting Glass,” Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Loch Lomond,” and “O vos omnes” by Pablo Casals. Additionally, this concert will feature some solo vocal works by members of the choir with piano played by Dr. Elaine Rendler, St. Agnes director of music ministry.

A social with drinks, hors d’oeuvres, and sweets will follow the concert, which is free and open to the public. Donations to benefit St. Agnes Church will be accepted.
