SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — The Shepherd University Accounting Club hosted its annual Meet the Firms event virtually on Friday, October 2, using the Handshake platform—a free posting site for employers to connect with students and young alumni from more than 500 U.S. colleges.
This was the first time that Meet the Firms has taken place virtually. It provided accounting students with the opportunity to learn more about the businesses and careers of the accounting field in the surrounding area.
“The event was very successful with 13 businesses participating and 12 accounting majors attending group sessions and one-on-one video chats with the employers,” said Dr. Cindy Vance, chair, Department of Accounting. “The businesses had internships and full-time positions available for the students.”
