SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV — Shepherd University recognized faculty and staff for their work over the past year with several ceremonies.

The Faculty Awards Ceremony, Employee Service Recognition Luncheon, and Staff Awards take place each spring to honor Shepherd employees for their achievements, dedication, and success.

Tammy Gill, director of human resource operations, said the Staff Awards were announced on April 9 this year.

Staff members receive nominations, and four winners are announced, one for each category.

Gill noted that even though only one person receives the award, staff members all over campus are nominated.

The 2025 staff awards are:

The Above and Beyond Award: Emmy Wilson, student employment coordinator

The Excellent Service to Students Award: Juneau Daggs, student success coach

The Making a Difference Award: Anthony Stoika, administrative assistant

The Employee Service Recognition Luncheon took place on Thursday, April 24.

Gill said is a heartfelt celebration everyone looks forward to.

“We honor our faculty and staff who reached significant service milestones this year, as well as retirees,” Gill said. “The luncheon continues to be a cherished tradition that underscores Shepherd’s commitment to valuing its employees — not just for what they do, but for who they are.”

Employees with service anniversaries in 5-year increments receive recognition up to 35 years of service.

Over 30 individuals were honored for their contributions and service to Shepherd University this year.
