Multicultural Leadership Team (MLT)
The Multicultural Leadership Team was established in 1991 for the purpose of developing a diverse and multicultural group of student leaders that strive to engage the campus community through awareness, advocacy, and action for social change.
Members of the Multicultural Leadership Team participate in a multicultural leadership development program that empowers them to demonstrate their commitment to social justice, equity, and diversity. The members must complete 90 hours of community service each year and give two presentations. Multicultural Student leaders participate in a transformative program that empowers the student’s voice and promotes dialogue between individuals of diverse backgrounds and identities.
The Multicultural Leadership Team envisions Shepherd Student as an institution of higher education where administrators, faculty, staff, and students cooperate and collaborate to build and maintain an inclusive campus community that fosters respect and appreciation for people of all social identities and backgrounds.
Applicants for this scholarship must be full-time, undergraduate, degree-seeking Shepherd University students who demonstrate leadership qualities and a commitment to improving race relations, enhancing cultural diversity, and promoting multiculturalism.
