Course Reserves
Due to Covid-19 transmission concerns, the Scarborough Library will not be offering course reserves for Fall 2020.
Students
Course Reserves are supplemental materials placed on hold by faculty and are located behind the Public Services desk. Upon request, a member of the library staff will retrieve the item for you.
For quick and easy help when requesting a reserve, please provide:
- Title of material
- Instructor’s name
- Course number
Have your Shepherd University ID (Rambler) card available for checkout.
Students are able to see if there are reserve materials for their course by clicking on the Course Reserve link in the WorldCat Discovery. Students can search by Instructor or Course. Ask at the Public Services desk if the item is currently available.
Loan Periods
Loan periods are determined by the faculty member and vary from 2 hours library use to 7 days.
Faculty
The Library accepts a variety of materials for Reserve circulation, including books from the library collection, instructors’ books, and audio or visual materials. Items that cannot be placed on reserve include Interlibrary Loan materials and Netflix DVDs.
Loan period options include:
- Two hours (library use only)
- Three days
- Seven days
To help us serve you better, please observe the following guidelines:
- Bring materials to the Public Services desk at least three days prior to the time students will request them. A Faculty Course Reserve form must be completed each time materials are placed on reserve and is available both at the Public Services desk and online.
- Please be selective and place on Reserve only those materials that will receive frequent or regular use.
- Remove your materials promptly when no longer needed on Reserve. The Library may make some exceptions for courses taught every semester.
