Holly Stone-Flute Instructor

A native of Pennsylvania, Holly Stone loves sharing the joy of music with students of all ages. She holds a Master of Music in Flute Performance from The Hartt School and a Bachelor of Music Education from Houghton College. For many years, she worked as a freelance musician in Nashville, performing with the Nashville Symphony, Nashville Opera, Huntsville Symphony Orchestra, the Nashville Praise Symphony, and the Nashville Flute Choir, as well as appearing on WPLN’s Live from Studio C and performing in chamber groups. After moving to West Virginia, she has performed with the Main Street Chamber Orchestra in Berryville and the Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia.
Holly is equally invested in teaching and flute pedagogy. She has served as adjunct flute professor at Cumberland University, taught elementary music and choir in public schools, led flute masterclasses and clinics, and built private studios in several states.

Her own playing and teaching have been shaped by inspiring mentors, including Gitte Marcusson, professor at the Royal College of Music in London and Naxos recording artist; John Wion, former principal flutist of the New York City Opera and professor at The Hartt School; Bradley Garner, former professor at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and member of the Atlantic Sinfonietta; and Nancy Sanderson, former professor at Wilkes University and flutist with the Catskill Symphony. She has also participated in masterclasses with Goran Marcusson, Michel Debost, and Leone Buyse and further studies with Peter Verhoyen, Robert Willoughby, and Brooks de Wetter Smith.
