Welcome to the first-year writing program at Shepherd University! We are a growing program that the majority of Shepherd students, like you, will find themselves a part of as they move through our two courses, ENG101: Writing and Rhetoric I and ENG102: Writing and Rhetoric II. Both courses use a variety of readings and workshops to help improve your writing skills. They are meant to provide you with a foundation of procedural (how to) and conceptual (what) knowledge about writing that you can build upon in your successive classes and major fields at the university.
Our courses are some of the few required of virtually all undergraduates, a requirement that demonstrates the importance placed on writing by the university community.
