Dr. Naomi C. Gades joined Shepherd University as a lecturer in English composition in the fall of 2019. She  earned her Ph.D. at Loyola University Chicago after defending her dissertation on modernist American poetry and science. She has also earned an M.A. in English at Loyola, an M.A. in Liberal Arts from the Great Books program at St. John’s College, and a B.A. in English, German, and Secondary Education from Augustana University. She taught composition and college readiness courses at Loyola University Chicago, where she also tutored in and co-managed the Loyola Community Literacy Center, which offers free tutoring to Chicagoland adults. Having taught as a certified teacher in school systems from New Mexico to Germany, Naomi cares deeply about her students and their success. When she’s not teaching or reading, you might find her bicycling, playing a video game, or catching and throwing multiple objects in quick succession.
